What a Week!
This week has been an epic one! I started the week by offering some historical insight for the recent news stories about former President Trump’s destruction of presidential records. Here are those stories:
“National Archives had to retrieve Trump White House records from Mar-a-Lago,” The Washington Post, February 7, 2022.
“‘He never stopped ripping things up’: Inside Trump’s relentless document destruction habits,” The Washington Post, February 5, 2022.
Around the same time, I wrote an op-ed for NBC Think about Trump’s coordinated effort to avoid accountability and transparency:
“Trump ripping up White House docs shows what little respect he had for the presidency,” NBC News THINK, February 7, 2022.
All of these stories led to a few TV hits, including CNN as pictured above and Newsy!
I also released the paperback of my book, The Cabinet: George Washington and the Creation of an American Institution.
Then I wrote a few other pieces on the cabinet. First, for History News Network, I analyzed Washington’s creation of the cabinet and how his successors learned from his precedent:
“George Washington and the Legacy of the Flexible Cabinet,” February 7, 2022.
And for Divided We Fall, I considered President Biden’s cabinet one year later:
“President Biden’s Cabinet One Year Later,” February 3, 2022.
Thanks for reading and following along!
